A study of mass and momentum, this work shifts from fluid extension into a more compressed and forceful wave form. The composition emphasizes the physical weight of moving water, where structure tightens and energy gathers before release.
Marked as a study toward a larger work, the piece reflects a moment of investigation within the broader Discipline of the Infinite series. The central form carries a sense of density and pressure, reinforced by heavier ink passages and a tightened internal rhythm.
Set against a restrained red field, the contrast between saturated color and exposed paper heightens the tension between stillness and motion. Visible process — including tonal variation, brushwork, and registration marks — grounds the work in direct execution and ongoing refinement.
As part of the Red Field studies, this piece functions both as a standalone work and as a developmental step within a larger body of panel-based paintings.
